Happy Halloween! :D

I was worried I wouldn't finish this page before the end of the month. I'm still waiting on a referral for an endocrinologist to figure out why I can no longer manage my diabetes with diet, which had been working beautifully for over a year. But lately I'll have only 10-15 grams of sugar in a given day (and believe me, that's ridiculously small), and I'll still end up with blood sugar of 204 at the end of the day, despite 18 units of the long-acting insulin that morning. So Dr Prentice thinks an endocrinologist is the best bet for figuring out why my system is malfunctioning. That also explains why I'll get 10 hours of sleep, have an hour to get breakfast, and then immediately have a MANDATORY nap, an hour after ten hours of sleep.

So with everything going on, I don't have a lot of time or energy to write much about this particular page, like I usually do. But I'm glad I managed to get it done so I can have it up and published on the Patreon for this month, since my output has been so hampered by my health in the past few months. Those beer splashes were damn hard to draw!

I will say I'm continually surprised by just how much misogyny persists in our culture... Google for example. I understand it a little more in the old Star Trek episodes I've been watching. As bizarre as Star Trek's misogyny is, the show is still a product of writers who grew up in WWII. Like that one time an alien girl-gas-cloud took over the body of a recently deceased female Ambassador the cloud helped kill, and Kirk smiles as he remarks "the Federation will find some other girl to handle their peace talks!" Or the time Uhura's mind was erased and the big problem was losing a communications officer, but it wasn't so bad because, "she can be retrained." So in that light, I hope you find Lucifer and the TED speaker on the TV sufficiently awful on this page. ;)

If you enjoy my comedy and other comics, why not combine them? Last week I published my latest Webcomic Whimsy -- a roast-like review of the sci-fi adventure comic Nextuus, from my friend Tom Hotka. You can check that out on our Tumblr.

In the spirit of not letting my health stop me, I'm planning to launch another Kickstarter in the spring. I'm staffing (not tabling) for Animatic Con in May, so I think I'll try to have the Kickstarter in March or April. I'm planning it in the spring for two reasons, first I need time to plan it. Second, a lot of people are out of town the last couple months of the year, and it's hard to get people to *see* your Kickstarter when they're not online because they're arguing with drunk uncle Joe over GLBT rights at Thanksgiving dinner.

The Kickstarter goal will be to print a Woohooligan Vol. 2 (Vol 1 is available in the store), and/or to print a first volume of this Hellbent story, that would end probably on the page where Amity sleeps with Lucifer, or maybe on the page where she discovers she's pregnant. In either case I think that's going to be around 80 pages, so it will be a trade paperback rather than a single issue. Also, I hope that after the books are printed, there will be enough funds leftover for me to put back into some convention appearances next year! :D If you're interested in updates on these events, join our mailing list above (just below the comic page), and/or pledge (as little as a dollar a month) on our Patreon!

Thanks for sharing yourself with us, Hooligan!

p.s. My birthday is next week on the 5th. I'm not expecting anything fancy -- Tiff and I may go out to eat, but that's about it for us. If you'd like to do something nice for my birthday, I always appreciate anything you can do to share the comics and our goals to make the world better with our comedy. Shouts on social media, short blog posts, whatever. Thanks! :D
